Blue Boys and Birthdays

Image
My most recent bargain is these blue striped comforters I got at Target for $10 each! Gotta love it! My boys sure do! They are nice and cozy (we don't like to use the word Cramped) in their little bedroom. I love the above picture of Jeremiah because you can see his little sign he put up. It says"Sparky, whale and teddy, and Jeremiah Nolt and tiger sleep here!" Along with an arrow so you know exactly where they sleep! Love it! Sam cannot be parted from his "blankie" Ben looks like he's fallen into a mass of blue blanket and can't get out! Lotsa blue stripes! Sam had a birthday yesterday and was pretty excited about his cake! It was nothing special but he didn't care! It was especially for HIM! I love his little smile! We also celebrated with my family last week because my brother Rod and Sam have the same birthday! We got to choose what day to have Sam's birth so we chose Rod's birthday because Rod always complains how we don't

Photos and the Pressure to Produce Them

Image
Each summer I try to take a nice picture of the kids, but this year I kept putting it off. I was feeling more and more pressure to get these pictures taken. One day I went to my mother-in-law's house and saw that she had pictures of everyone's kids but mine! I needed to get on the ball! But really! How much of this pressure is really necessary? Will it be the end of the world if my kids don't get a formal picture this summer? I have PLENTY of other shots of them. I like to blame my pressure on all the folks who take gorgeous pictures of their kids all year round, but truthfully I am responsible for putting the pressure on myself. I have come to realize that I am the only one who can keep me from feeling pressure to do anything! And there you have it: My confession of the day...Enjoy the Pictures anyway!

Birthday Boy!

So, my sweet little Benjamin Brendan has turned 5! I can hardly believe how the time has flown since I had him via c-section! We were living in Indiana at the time and I was attempting to have him VBAC (vaginal birth after Cesarean), but alas, I went into labor and experienced the most painful few hours of my life all to hear them say, "He's breech!" So, for this reason, all of my children were destined to be born through a slit in my mid-section! The minute I laid eyes on him, I loved him instantly, but what normal mother doesn't! He looked just like his daddy's baby pictures! This time we had a real Nolt! This crazy-looking man was NOT my doctor! Thank Goodness! He was the nervous father! How precious! Benjamin did give us quite a scare when his bilirubins soared sky high! They took him to the NICU and put him in an incubator for a few days to be under an intense light. I was only allowed to take him out to feed him! They put a little mask on him and it was so p

Big Girl Bed & 2 Lost Teeth!

Image
We set up Joanna's Big Girl Bed for her to get used to before we put her in it. It seems like such a big transition! My baby is turning 2! The children all decided to play in it this morning! It was too cute to pass up this photo op! But shortly after this pic, I had to shoo them out because it was getting a little too rowdy! This household has seen a lot of action today! JJ also lost his 2nd tooth! What a cutie!

Bunk Beds and Stuff

Image
So, these are the bunk beds that haveabecome a thorn in my flesh...they are just taking a lot longer to finish than originally planned! But my honey has done a really nice job on them! He is making them for friends of ours who are currently, as we speak, in Kazakstan picking up their sixth child, fifth daughter. They have already adopted one from Kazakstan and two from Liberia. Exciting stuff... This is my little JoJo pretending that her shoe is a phone! Too priceless! This is at the bayfront fountains, and this is typical Ben! A real boys' boy! Love it! They really had fun, partly because they were almost the only kids there on a Monday evening! Sam...splashing Ben... Climbing... This is just like the picture we took last summer except the kids are a year older! Kinda sad, but excting too! I can't believe I have a six year old and my youngest is almost two! I would normally have another baby by now! But that is not possible anymore and it's kinda sad...maybe God

Lazy Daze

Image
We had a lovely, lazy 4th of July....Brendan's brother Andy was in town and the kids had fun tackling and hanging all over him! It was very warm, but there was a breeze to help keep us cool, as long as we didn't move! The kids enjoyed keeping cool in the little pool that had some issues standing up right! We went to a park downtown to watch the fireworks and it was amazing how being that close to the bayfront gave us a much nicer breeze! The men/kids played kickball, raced, & rolled down the hill while we waited! I got some corn at Target last week for 10/$1! What a steal! I should have gotten more! My wonderful boys helped by shucking it! How sweet! And my precious little girl was copying her brothers by making gun noises with this squirt gun...oh boy...
